Thanks, Bertrand (Gemini Rising, here). I cosign your message and agree that there are valid faith-based reasons to object to any spiritual practice. I personally see astrology as more of a tool than a belief system; at the same time I know it requires a person to engage with spiritual questions on some level and I respect a person’s right to opt-out, especially those who’ve had to contend with fundamentalist conditioning. One of the things I appreciate most about astrology is that it’s interpretative and not literal, and if one has the ability to approach it agnostically, I think it can offer insights into the ebbs and flows of life and human development that transcend, or do not require adherence to, belief systems — but I think it’s difficult to get to that point without direct engagement / personal study.
